NYC

Prešli sme klasické pamiatky New Yorku: Times square, Wallstreet, Ground Zero, Brooklyn Bridge, China town, Little Italy, Central Park, Empire State Building a (trošku neobvyklejšie) tour de Columbia University.

Celú cestu sme si robili srandu, že budeme musieť pokrikovať "Down with capitalism!" aby nás neušľapali, ale vôbec nebolo treba. Aspoň si spravili vtipné plagátiky :)

Philadephia + Princeton

Approximately 2 weeks ago we put our Phili + Princeton + NYC trip into practice. We went there over weekend and I skipped school on Monday and Tuesday (I wasnt happy - I am enjoying most of my classes). On Saturday we went to Philadelphia to see Nate (Lukes older brother) rowing. The weather was awful. I saw the first American snow. The morning after we had a huge disaster in our hotel room. I will write about that soon. On Sunday morning, we walked through Princeton campus and then took a train to NYC. You will find NY pics in the next post. Check Princetons dining room and the whole campus - it looks like the one from Harry Potter!

Trip to Washington DC and its surroundings

A few weeks ago (I know, its a bit too late to write about this, but whatever) we planned to finally make our Washington DC trip. From the time when we were on the plane, I just remember how I was trying to convince Luke, that Puerto Rico is not a US state just because then it will not sound so cool to say that United States has 51 instead of 50 states. The next day we went to see Georgetown University. Its famous for its international affairs program - something for me. Later we went to William and Mary College to see Lukes friend who graduated from Minnehaha last year. On Saturday we went to UVa (Universty of Virginia) to see Nate. Nate is Lukes older brother.

The last day of our trip, we spent in Washington DC. Gorgeous city. Hub for all the diplomats and politicians. Most historical sights are located in a small area. We walked to the Capital building, then we passed National Art Gallery, Native American History Museum and we finally appeared in front of a huge almost 170 metres tall pillar - Washington Monument. Unfortunately they don't allow people get in, because recent earthquake had partially destabilized it. The White House building is just about 5 minutes walking distance from there. I always imagined it as a place somewhere in the countryside. Here are some pictures:
